The option of distance learning, or online learning as it is more commonly referred to, is a very good method for many people. It’s certainly the most convenient with a schedule and it is often cheaper to do because it doesn’t require the brick building to learn in. All you need to be an effective distance learner, on the surface, is a computer and some free time.
However, not everyone is built for the big stage of independent learning. It takes a very special person to do distance learning and if you are not ready for it then you are going to be in very tough semester.
The key to distance learning is to be able to do a lot of work on your own. There is a lack of discipline and structure. If you are the type of person that is good about doing homework and is the kind of person who starts projects promptly than you might be ok and ready for an online environment, but if you are someone that needs a class to keep you working than you are out of your head thinking it’s right for you.
You will also need to be the kind of learner that doesn’t need visual teachings. There will be some visuals but there won’t be hands on projects like some other classes. IF this is something that is effective to your learning process than you need to figure out a way.
Learning online is a great resource for those who are ready for it. That might not be you. Know what kind of student you are before you sign up.
